Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.Nathaniel Hawthorne
I pursued the little butterfly
They said it was a waste
I pursued the little butterfly
I did it with such haste
I let the butterfly go by
It wasn’t to my taste
Then from the corner of my eye
Saw my shoulder it had graced
Life is full of mysteries =), and each mystery has another one in it.
Yes, full of mysteries.
We try to figure them out, but maybe some things are just best to remain mysterious.
Aha, words of wisdom! I have yet to reach this level of understanding yet, from now on I will keep an eye on them!
A moment captured in time…beautiful!
A little quotation can say something so much better than a long book about the same thing. lol
They say some people go through life without ever finding time to live! Same with pursuing happiness forgetting it should be the journey not the destination
You plan and plan for something. Work hard to get it. And when you get it, you don’t know what to do with it.
The joy is always in the going about doing it. And doesn’t matter what “it” is.
Well, I hope the “it” is something good of course.
Most times the things we pursue are good from our perspective or we wouldn’t pursue them.
I hear they say no one does something unless to gain pleasure.
Or to escape pain.
Works for both of us!
lovely inspiration based on the quote. there are some ppl it won’t grace even if they stop running behind it..
This quote gave me a lot of different thoughts. And you brought out one more.
One of my other thoughts was…..you may not achieve something on the first chase or chance, but keep it in mind. The opportunity may again land nearby when you least expect. Don’t give up.
Hi. I am tongued -tied today Lady S.
I liked the quote. So true.
Sometimes I try to write a comment and I delete it thinking ….oh what a silly thing to say.
But then I change my mind and say it anyway. lol
There is so much wisdom in Hawthorne’s words and the two stanzas you have penned.
Thank you so much for liking what I wrote.
And an even bigger thank you for saying, “you have penned.”
There might be hope for me after all. lol
Oh yes! I too loved reading but find that writing and visiting blogs takes up a lot of time – and knitting and singing and piano practice – all the things that, like you, I didn’t have time for when I was working.
I still read but each book takes me longer than it used to.
All the best, love your cosy picture – makes me want to curl up with a book!
I know how busy you are and wish I were involved that way. But I am not. So I keep busy here.
Thanks for dropping by HERE and THERE.
