My Side of the Street

mysideofthestreet1

I had a little friend
who was a friend to me
Everyday we played
had a lot of fun you see

Somehow our friendship
just wasn’t meant to last
The fun that we had
is far in the past

Now I have a new friend
so I don’t feel alone
But somehow my old friend
I just haven’t outgrown

Old friend visits new friend
I think it’s very sweet
But sometimes it is best
To stay on my side of the street

I once had a friend who went and changed her name, and now she never visits any more. I see her playing with all her other friends, but not me, I must be a bore.-)

  2. Hard to let go of one’s heart of childhood:’(

  3. Nice expression of friendship

    • I really wasn’t thinking much when I wrote it. Just liked the picture.
I am sure you have started out thinking of one thing……..and the finished product is 180 degrees different from your original intention.

      • That always happens to me, especially when I do crafts…Oh, I’ll make a card, that turns into a book LOL or a scarf that turns into wristers. My poems never end up how I thought I wanted them to when I started writing.

  4. friendships come and go… the memories pass with laughter so- no tears nor regrets but a smile make, and remember fondly for friendship’s sake! :-)

    • I saw this little picture and thought it was cute. And she did remind me of the carefree days of young friendship.

When you didn’t worry if your hair was combed or your dress (we wore dresses back then…lol) was missing a button or torn. And your skin was still lovely and you didn’t have to cream it nightly. :)

  5. Was your little friend also a friend of your other friend ;-)

  6. As long as you have a friend, am happy :)

A "Hi" is OK!
